Allow the Brazos Valley Orchestra Fill Your Weekend with Wonder
Discover the dazzling works of some of the greatest composers at a special classical music concert happening on Sunday, February 25th. Presented by the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, “Russians and Ravel” is a unique showcase of masterworks that highlight a common motif in classical music, the traditional Russian dance, and present a thorough display of dancing’s pivotal role in orchestral history with a magnificent program of eclectic compositions.
Music Director Marcelo Bussiki invites all to attend an evening of stunning performances, all of which share a grounding in the world of dance. First, a dance from Borodin’s opera Prince Igor, followed by Bolero from the prolific French innovator, Ravel. Bolero is a Spanish-flavored and seductive orchestral piece written for a ballet, commissioned by a Russian actress and dancer. Finally, the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra performs the theatrical Petrushka, Stravinsky’s ballet that tells a story of loves and jealousies from an interesting point of view. It is sure to be a night of outstanding live music, so make sure you see the show at the Rudder Auditorium!
